Oracles allow blockchain smart contracts to access external data. Natively, smart contracts do not have external connectivity. Even rudimentary use cases for oracles can be valuable, such as price feeds or number generators. In more complex use cases, oracles can be utilized to facilitate payments, weather data, shipping & logistics, derivatives, etc.
