One of the main limitations of the older Ledger Nano S is the limited space available on the device for apps. If the user only has the Avalanche app on their Nano S, they are still able to bridge Ethereum assets to and from Avalanche. This is possible because the Avalanche app used in conjunction with the Core, allows users to sign multi-chain transactions using just the Avalanche app. So there is no need for the Ethereum app on the Ledger.
However, if you are bridging Bitcoin to and from Avalanche, a Nano S will not sign for Bitcoin network transactions.
